One thing I don't see mentioned much is the iPhone 4 seems to have home button problems. Every one I have seen is hard to press after 6 months to a year. The iPhone 4S had a much improved home button. That would be a big factor in deciding between the two for me.

It's true that the iPhone 4's home button is quite prone to stop working after a couple of months. But cleaning it with alcohol (just search YouTube for 'iPhone home button alcohol') resolved all issues I was having. My 4 is now nearly two years old.
