Youtube audio distortion

First post here but could do with a bit of help if possible. I have a mac mini with mountain lion and use google chrome as my browser. The issue i have is that when i watch any flash video from youtube or elsewhere i am getting audio distortion after 1-2 seconds to the point it cuts out completely. I have taken a video of this if anyone could perhaps let me know a solution. I am struggling to find one elsewhere.

This issue only effects chrome, all other browsers are fine.

I have gone to chrome://plugins/ and eneabled/disabled flash to see if that works. No joy.
