Just a quick caveat - if you have your original files in MP3, chances are they are highly compressed. When going over to AAC, don't pick the usual 32 or whatever go to 64 to get better sound. Compressing an already compressed file does come with more distortion. Some will find it acceptable and some of us don't like what it does to the lows and highs of a good narrator's voice.

everyone STOP
you don't have to use silly scripts or transcoders

what you do is

1. add the mp3 to your library like any other music file

2. right click on it and click 'Get Info'

3. under the options tab change 'Media Kind' from 'Music' to 'Audiobook'

it magically is now an audiobook
This has been such great help. Thank you so so much!
