I don't see the point of a mini in bed when a normal iPad is small enough.
Playing movies in bed on a mini - wow - some like torture.

If bluetooth soundbar is not used like Jambox - to watch movies -
well, pretty obvious quality of event is not that important.

The mini - for all practical is a on the road device that can be at the Pub during chow
where the iPad is just too big to tote along.

Not once have I seen an iPad out on tour in Pubs compared to smaller devices.
Setting up camp at a coffee shop is a bit different with normal iPad - being that's all that's going on - non stop surfing / research.

Vs quick shot of chow - checking email - etc, back on the road.
