for LG screens only, I'm using someone else's calibrated screen that I think (s)he calibrated professionally, and it's great!

I can tell you that the best technique is NOT using someone else's profile.

I just used the Spyder 3 pro and I am pleased. The display was stunning before and post calibration is a touch better. It is slightly warmer (but I can't confirm if it is closer to 6500K) but it does make skin more pleasing. And I get better shadow detail.

Samsung screen.
