How to view and manage iPod Shuffle

There is nothing in support on Apple website that tells you how...if U are using itunes 11, do you get the "settings on this ipod" to actually work. It seems impossible to see what songs are in the shuffle (4th) and delete what you no longer want...highlight icon and right click does not offer that, highlight
icon and select music on top in itunes shows only music on iTunes.
Was this Steve Jobs little joke he left us?

Turn the Sidebar back on. iTunes is so much easier to work in with the Sidebar displayed. Then, click your iPod and choose your settings.
