OT: USB question

Maybe someone here can help. The attached image is of a corrupted image.
The black rows at the top shouldn't be black. The columns under the single row of black pixels belong at the other end of the image.

This is a file that has been transfer over a USB interface. It is possible that this is not a USB problem. However, for a number of reasons the USB is suspect.

Any ideas? Any suggestion as to where I might get more info.
