USPS will resume Saturday deliveries for packages and prescriptions

Quote:
Nice try, delivery guys. One month after the financially beleaguered U.S. Postal Service announced it would end Saturday delivery in an attempt to save $2 billion annually, Congress passed legislation Thursday requiring six-day delivery. The law does, however, leave room for the Postal Service to alter what services it offers on Saturdays. While it will no longer pick up or deliver first-class mail, magazines, and direct mail on Saturdays, the USPS will continue to deliver packages and pharmaceutical drugs. The Postal Service has said it could need a taxpayer bailout of more than $47 billion by 2017 if Congress does not allow it flexibility in changing its business model.
daily beast

Well, they'll still work on Saturday..

Actually, they've wanted to cut back for quite a while now in order to bring costs into line, but Congress -- you know, the same one that kept trying to repeal the ACA and complain about reckless spending -- wouldn't let them.

You gotta hand it to our Congress.

As I recall, when USPS first announced their plan, they would stop mail delivery and magazines on Saturdays, but continue package delivery.

So those take-charge guys in Congress passed a law...allowing USPS to stop the mail but forcing them to continue package delivery.

Thank God we have those wise men and women requiring agencies to do what they were going to do anyway.

Ladies and gentlemen, your United States Congress!
