Recently bought my Macbook Pro - I know its capable of displaying what you can see on your Macbook on your telly, but can you do it vice versa? Basically what im asking is when you connect for example - your xbox to your telly via a HDMI cable, can you then connect it to your Macbook - so I could be using my Macbook screen to view my Xbox?

No, that won't work. The MBP has video out, but not video in.
