Jailbreaking not legal after 2013?

According to This week in Law (twit tv network show). New laws are in effect starting 2013 that makes it a crime to jailbreak certain devices.
Phones ok, tablets not? You have to get permission from carrier?
I thought these were simple computers and you could put whatever OS you wanted on it. Just like Linux on a notebook or PC.

Seriously though, who cares. Jailbreak, if they arrest you you would win just out of publicity. Stupid law.

EDIT: NOOOO!!!! it does say rooting. Try to stop me from putting Cyanogen on my tablet, just try!!!!

that's not the point. If it becomes illegal, they can take legal action against people who release the jailbreaks.

How do they expect to take legal action against them? They find the security holes in software. Obviously there always will be imperfections, without Jailbreakers and other hackers they wouldn't be able to fix the faults. We (and I mean iOS and Android users alike) wouldn't have a lot of the features we do now. Simple tweaks and big features that we can't see ourselves living without came from jailbreaking/rooting. This is a stupid stupid law. Why not just go after people who make things such as Installous or pirate apps? That's the real problem here, not modifying the system, but stealing apps and music.
