Imovie quits unexpectedly when opening

Imovie quits when trying to open.

I have created a new user account and it works fine.

Actions taken so far include
1)moving com.apple.iMovieApp.plist to desk top and restarting
2)repaired disk permisions
3)Looked in quicktime library only two files exist (AppleIntermediateCodec.component and AppleMPEG2Codec.component)

Have you tried deleting the iMovie .plist file that lies in Your Home Folder]/Libary/Preferences? If that does not work maybe try reinstalling quicktime from apple's website.
