This fix worked for me: http://idevicedailys.com/os-x/howto-use-candybar-os-x-mavericks/

You'll need to reverse the changes to your original OS version after you've done the above and made the changes in CandyBar. Once the changes are complete, return to the terminal and reset your dock with killall -KILL Dock and the finder with killall -KILL Finder

Not sure if anyone is still reading this thread since it's so old, but I'm having this issue as well and tried to open your Candybar Zip, but I can't seem to download it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! =^.^=

CandyBar still works on macOS Mojave although it sometimes crashes when using the search feature. You'll have to disable SIP if you want to change certain folders and apps.
