Will minecrft run on MacBook air 2008 A1237
Hi people, I'd really like to know if minecraft will run on MacBook air 2008. I'm fine with normal render distance and fast graphics. I am thinking of buying to only play minecraft and surf the web.
Plz reply Thanks

I've heard of it running at 30 FPS on the 2012 model at med graphics, so i would say no.

The 2012 runs on intel GMA while the 2008 has a graphics card, would this make a difference?

I have a 2008 aluminum Macbook with the 9400m and it will play minecraft pretty decently with a couple of the settings turned down, but it does run pretty hot and the older Airs weren't so good with cooling as I recall. |

The 2010 2.4ghz White Macbook with 320m GPU is a much better choice if you're not dead set on lowest weight. It can easily be upgraded to 8GB ram and any 2.5" SSD. Still a good runner.
Only comment I can share about Minecraft is that my bosses' son plays all the time on his Mac Mini with 9400m GPU. Don't know the settings, but he seems pleased with it. The 2010 White Macbook should handle it better as well. |

The 2008 air will run modern warefare trust me i've tried, but at that point it will be frying flapjacks on its aluminum casing. As for minecraft with fast graphics turned on you will be fine one of my biggest rules in my book is don't let the games company tell you the minimum specs for a game my friend has run minecraft on a powermac 9600

If you have a decent isp it will run it in 1080p and it will run the old cod on max settings

You can upgrade the hard drive to an SSD and upgrade the RAM to 4GB or 8GB either when you get it or sometime in the future. Upgrading the hard drive in the 2008 Air is a pain because it's an odd drive size and connection. The RAM is not upgradable at all and will forever be stuck at 2GB. The 2008 Macbook also has a faster processor. Being able to upgrade doesn't matter so much I think when buying a new model, but when you're already starting with a 5 year old model it will really help you to make it last.
