gtx675mx very capable
Picked up a a high end imac with i5 3470 and GTX675mx, I have to report its a very capable machine, played BF3 on it in bootcamp for a few hours, the imac was reasonable quiet and I was really impressed with how well it ran the game 40fps plus on high settings across the board at 2560 x 1440, far smoother than my pc.
That aside so far the imac is a really nice piece of kit, slim, quiet, fast (even with its dated hdd) and what is it with that sweet smell with every apple product I buy, is it a scent they spray on equipment and in the box?

I have to say I am really surprised how well it performs...weird cause I wanted to ignore it this new imac range and add components to my gaming pc. I'm now thinking I should really get the 680mx as if this card is anything to go buy that must really fly!

I can attest to the fact the 680mx is a beast, Ive got it overclocked and it is getting 8259 score in 3dmark. That is the same as a desktop 660ti

3d mark gave me a score of 6042. And this imac is so cool to touch, my 2010 27 imac is hot constantly...

MSI afterburner.
http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm ---------- Wow that's not a bad score at all, my 680mx stock only got 6755. You should easily be able to get the 675mx benching better then a stock 680mx with some light overclocking.

So the 675mx scores almost the same as the 680mx. Very disappointing for people getting the GPU upgrade, including myself. It's a waste of money but it was actually expected looking at past GPU upgrades in the high end iMac.

There is around a 700 point difference, that is a fair increase in FPS in real world use. Also the extra Vram on the 680mx will come in handy. For only 175 Australian i think the upgrade is well worth it.

Ok, so i just overclocked the gpu core clock to 200mhz and mem clock to 300mhz, ran 3D Mark 2011 and got a score of 7126...thats a nice jump.
GPU temp got to 65oC and CPU at 94oC...no loud fans or hums. http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/5698873

Did you use Msi Afterburner? As i suspected you get better then stock 680mx scores with the 675mx overclocked.

Yes, I used MSi afterburner thanks for the info. I am impressed I have to say, its a very powerful card for a laptop gpu. I'd say as casual gamimg goes this is worth a look if you want to buy it off the shelf, my local Apple store had 5 of these in stock, I cant decide to upgrade to the 680mx.

To get an idea about the numbers you can compare the scores to last years high end iMac wish is getting roughly half of 675mx/680mx's performance in 3Dmark. |

Ok
Lets just hope that Nvidia can tweak their drivers further, there should be a greater increase than 10% for 680mx.Thanks for sharing your results! |

Do you want to check what kind of specs chipmunk.com shows for your 675 Imac? Wondering if it shows the correct specifications...

When I thecked the serial number of my Imac with 675MX on chipmunk it says that my Imac contains a 680MX. Could you check what chipmunk says about your serial number? I'm wondering if chipkmunk has got the incorrect information... Or the my Imac has got the 680

Could you check it then at www.appleserialnumberinfo.com?
That site says that mine is a I7 instead of I5 and it has a 680MX instead of 675MX... Thanx! Otherwise I will know it tomorrow... |
