If I were to buy an iMac now I would likely by the 2012 model so I don't hate it and not negative about it. Joint pointing out that, in my opinion, its ok but nothing "revolutionary" and in fact you are losing 2 big features (DVD, side SD slot) to have the thin sides. |

Ur not loosing the sd slot, though for me it's useless. Yes u are loosing the DVD drive, which 99% of people don't care about. But in addition you get new design, better screen (evolutionary not revolutionary), faster everything else... So it's a big step up IMO.

Yeap after I've got mine, I see the bulge at the back isn't that huge. And the Mac still looks slim from most angles, even from some angles from the back. It keeps reminding me of the "cancerous wart" remark in one of the threads here - oh how wrong was he!
![]() Given that, I would still prefer a thicker iMac with flat back.

Saw it in person at an Apple store yesterday.
Whoever describes the rear of this unit as having a "bulge" must have a rudimentary grasp of the English language. If THAT is a "bulge"... what do you call the rear panels of all the other AIO's on the market? It's not even close. It's amazingly thin. Absolutely gorgeous. * Bonus I happened to stroll by the iPad Mini's and... I'll keep it real... I fell in love. They are ADORABLE! Those things are going to sail off of the shelves this holiday season! Guaranteed. |

I agree, having viewed it from all angles at the Apple Store now, 'bulge' is an exaggerated use of language to describe the back of the new iMac... The rear side has a graduated curve at worst, and it still looks very slim from every angle.
*However*, I will agree that the official Apple product shots (& descriptions of how 'thin' it is) have set the company up for some criticism as they border on misleading. |
