Windows on a Mac Network

We have added a windows 7 machine onto our mac network.. im having trouble getting the PC to stay connected to the network file shares from 10.7

anyone know of a utility to increase the compatibility of windows 7 so it plays nice with OSX.

Similar to MacDrive but for a network

You can try setting static IP addresses on the servers outside of the DHCP range. Then connect to them through the IP Address rather than the NetBIOS name. I've always found IP Addresses to be a more reliable means of connection. Learned this in earlier versions of OS X where network device names where completely unreliable.

From any Explorer Window you can connect by IP Address when formatted correctly. e.g. \\192.168.1.100

Then right click on the shares and map network drive and login with whatever user name and password is applicable as usual.
