These two were on my list, without a doubt the creme of the crop. Maybe something to with with Gold? Allways love those names for the woman characters.

Loved Live and Let Die.

I have strong memories of watching that with my father many times. I loved the boat chase through the swamps, the sputtering sheriff, the jazz funeral in New Orleans, the soundtrack. Just very happy memories.

That boat chase was awesome.

You sure he's your cousin sheriff?

The stunt where 007 had to run on top of the alligators was a bit risky for the stuntman. On one take, the last gator got the stuntman's shoe!

Casino Royale turns out to be best of all of them now that I've seen it.

If they filmed such a scene these days, I assume they'd use fake alligators or even more likely special effects, and not risk a valuable pair of shoes.

Hey, they weren't alligator shoes, were they?

Jaws appeared in The Spy Who Loved Me and was so popular he returned for Moonraker, where he was a bit more cute and hapless, less menacing.

As villians go, I liked Christopher Walken as Max Zorin in A View to a Kill, because he was so twisted (calm one minute, over the top another), brilliant, heartless, and of course with a seemingly unstoppable plan to dominate the world.

Thanks Doctor Q!!

Spectre leader Dr. No was so ruthless ... did they ever show his face? He was mentioned in like 3/5 movies no?

Oddjob was cool ... Jaws was still more menacing on his first appearance. Dude was HUGE! I'd love to see a spotlight show highlighting where are the bond villians now?

PS: I just figured out that Inspector Gadgets' nemesis was in fact a pseudo Dr. No ... stroking that cat. Then again it wasn't a cartoon I watched with intent just on TV when my sister watched it when she was 7, I was 14.

Is there some reason you (the OP) did not include the new Casino Royal (2006) and Quantum of Solace, which I would describe as the best Bond films since Gold Finger? Or did I miss the explanation?

Dr. No was first, and first with me too. I think they made it for a nickle, but it's so damn good for all of that. The tarantula & Bond, with the glass between them, is hilarious.

Then Goldfinger, which had it all, but then the franchise was well underway.

Third, Casino Royal (David Niven), because it sent all the books up so well.

And, it had Woody Allen as Jimmy Bond.

This is an old thread that predated the latest movies. But I just added them.

Woah! Casino Royal ('06) I can understand what some people see in it. But Quantum? Seriously, I thought it was a mess!

Difference of opinion acknowledged. I loved it as the perfect sequel to CR. The begining chase, and the DC3 sequence among other things was wonderful. Perfect overall Bond atmosphere. No one can outdo Sean Connery when he was in his prime, but Daniel Craig is the perfect actor to play him, compared to most of the jokes that came before him and after Connery.

James Bond Poster Evolution

Most of the posters featured a well-dressed Bond, usually armed, surrounded by women, with some hints of the action around the edges or in the background. Die Another Day and the stark Daniel Craig movie posters were exceptions.

Mistake in the infographic: the third bullet point for Tomorrow Never Dies applies to Die Another Day instead.

#1 Dr. No. Because of this and the first use of "Bond, James Bond."

#2...

Living Daylights was the first one I ever saw... thus, the best one imo. The Gateway to James Bond.

Skyfall and Casino Royale (spoof) round out my top three.
