Using old iPhone 4S as iPod
so i want to do a restore on it to wipe it completely but i'm afraid it'll activate automatically on verizon after it restores.. i have it set on airplane mode with wifi flipped on.... what should i do? i have an iphone 5 now, but i want to use this iphone 4s as a ipod now.

It can't activate if you already have a 5 and no longer have service on it. To get Verizon service back on it you would have to actually have Verizon put the service back on it. It's already an iPod now even if you turn airplane mode off.

If you're using the 4S as your own personal iPod, why bother wiping it?

+1. The iPhone 4S is still worth quite a lot of money, so you'd be better off buying an iPod Touch 4th or 5th gen, then selling the iPhone 4S. Unless of course the 4S is locked...
