I was on preview and I noticed the new feature in which you could use your iSight camera to scan in your signature and i was really impressed.

I was just wondering whether there was a mac application which would let you maybe write out the alphabet, and then scan in each letter and make it all into a font.

I wouldn't actually use this in any important documents, it'd just be a good novelty feature to have.

Does anyone know if there is a way to do this?

Another option is to scan your handwritten font, import it to Adobe illustrator (expensive, but there is a 1 month free trial available), use the Live Trace to tool to create vectors of your handwriting, then use these vectors as glyphs to import into Font Forge (open source) one at a time.

A shortcut to setting up all the font info might be to find an open source font. Delete the vector for a glyph, then import your vector to fill the space of the one you deleted.
