How to create a simple text rollover in Adobe Encore

Okay, I've searched and read online tutorials on how to simply create a text rollover in Encore 3, and I . . . simply . . . can't . . . grasp . . . the . . . concept.

In the Normal state, I want the chapter text in black. In the Over State, in red. That simple!

I've tried the following:

- Created the menu and chapter text in Photoshop, and imported to Encore
- In Encore, I've selected a chapter text link, and converted it to a button
- In the Properties palette for this button, I've selected Group 1 color set, and checked the "Create a sub picture" button.

When I go to preview, the red text shows up when I hover, but the black text is still visible below the red. And everything is pixelated!

Please help.
