iPod IPod nano 6th generation big problems.

My wife bought a used 8gig 6g nano and it functioned fine when we got it but when we plugged it up to the computer nothing would recognize it. I've tried EVERYTHING. I've done every single step on apples website I've even called them for help I've tried red snow it am completely out of ideas. It's stuck on the white screen and shows up in windows as all sorts of things from a disk drive to the ipod. iTunes on Mac will not show anything and it's gets stuck on "restoring ipod" on windows and fails every single time. But with disk utility I have formatted it for Mac and for windows with still no luck. Isn't there a way to just write the image to it and be done? Please help!!!!

I don't understand your question? Redsnow has options to help restore but I won't work properly. Closest place is 3 hours away.

So it's fixed I used a program called "reboot me" and it worked like a champ.
