Samsung M3 portable HD from Mac to Windows?
I would like to copy iPhotos library to this hard drive and then open them on a windows PC. It doesn't work on the Mac - I have found details on how to reformat to the Mac but will I then be able to view the photos on a windows laptop?
I'm confused :-/ |

Without some hacks, a windows formatted disk can't be written to from a Mac (Read-only) and a Mac formatted disk can't be written or read from a PC.
If you want compatibility between Mac & PC, I'd recommend formatting your external as ExFAT. Also a quick warning. Your iPhoto library will show up as a folder when the disk is viewed from a PC. Try not to modify any photos or files while connected to the PC. You could mess up the database. If you want to edit photos from your PC, copy them out first, then re-import them into iPhoto. |
