updating drives

I am currently a PC user and will be making the switch. I will be purchasing the new imac once it is released for AVID MC use.

I am reading through some article on keeping your NLE system running smoothly. They say to be "updating your video card drivers"

With a MAC, do I have to specifically check each drive to make sure everything is up to date and running smoothly. Or is that more of a PC issue, and as long as the OS is up to date, im good?

Thoughts?

That's more of a PC issue. As far as i know, if an important driver update to the video-cards is made available, i will be installed automatically (assuming you have automatic updates turned on. Since Apple is a more 'closed' system' than IBM-compatible, driver issues rarely show up...
