I am a new mac user and cannot find an easy way to rename photos.

I have some photos in the pictures folder and am looking for an easy way to rename them. I am trying to find out how to rename single photos and how to rename multiple photos.

On my windows PC it was easy, just select the files, right click and rename. Doesn't seem to be that simple on mac.

I am trying to get the same renaming system as on my PC

Example:

Birthday(1).jpg
Birthday(2).jpg
Birthday(3).jpg
Birthday(4).jpg

Etc,etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

If multiple photos are selected can they be renamed in bulk like in windows?
I misread your post. The way I described only works for single items. To do a batch rename, you will need to use a third party app (like the ones listed above) or write a script to automate the process for you.

Thanks for the replies, seems a bit odd that a third party app needs to be used but I will take a look at the apps.
