Anyone bought a ipad mini from John Lewis lately.
Getting one next week but was wondering what firmware it had on it.

Even the one I bought from an Apple store needed to upgrade itself not long after I got home, so I don't think you need to concern yourself with firmware version. The device will sort itself out.

I ain't concerned its more the fact that my son wants it jailbroken

I think the question is: do iPads from this retailer have 6.1.3 preinstalled? That's a pretty pertinent question bc if so, no jailbreak for his son :(

I live in the states, but if its a retailer rather than the Apple Store your chances for < 6.1.3 is higher.

Cheers all yeah I know you can't jailbreak 6.1.3 that's why I was wondering what's the chance of getting a mini with 6.1.2

Got one from staples a couple of weeks ago that was running pre 6.13FW was also told they had a open box policy if I wanted to return it and get a refund.

Really depends on stock turnover. Picking a less popular model helps too

John Lewis is an upmarket UK chain of department stores which sell a good selection of electronics. Generally they sell on service, warranty and quality rather than price, though they do price match within limits.

Not that I advocate doing so for this reason, but do they not have a fairly liberal returns policy which mitigates the risk of the product being unsuitable?
