Lynch is crazy smart. And btw folks...if you see something utterly sweet and innovative on the web...and (context) right click on it...70% of the time...you'll see it was produced in Flash.

As someone who has produced both HTML 5 and Flash I can say with some expertise: HTML5 is 10 years behind.

It works well on my MacPro with 6-core 3.33GHz and 24GB ram. Not as well on My MBP 3.06GHz with 8GB ram. It is hard to find much difference between CS3 and CS6 other than OS compatibility.

A security update! Exactly the problem with flash - No more new features on the Android.

Look I have made a lot of money from flash and I am happy its not in mobile browsers. Too many holes. the way memory is managed in a browser etc makes it terrible for phones. Let alone the fact that 95% of site don't work because there is/was no rollover on a touch phone.

I've read all 7 pages of comments and have to add another possibility. Most are probably aware that Adobe is pushing this monthly fee for use of their products. I choose to buy products individually or as a suite rather than monthly payments, but that is my choice. It is possible that Lynch may try to set up something with the cloud that makes Apple apps available there. I not sure if that would be good or bad.

Lucky you. Adobe prices outside USA get even more stupid. For example here in the UK, the CS6 Master Collection is £2,677.60, which is about US$4,057.

It's really not that bad. I use the CS6 subscription service and it really doesn't cost that much per month. In terms of my business it's probably my least expensive bill, plus I don't have to worry about buying a new version every other year since the subscription model updates on its own. (This is why most enterprise level software is subscription based)

As far as alternatives to Adobe... unless all the vendors I work with start accepting non adobe files, it's a moot point. Most require AI or ID files. I use Photoshop sparingly, but have heavy use in Illustrator and InDesign and frankly don't have time to learn a new software program just to save a couple of bucks. I've not had any issues with CS6 programs crashing either, CS5 however, was a different story.

When was this? Recently? it may not be fit for your particular setup, but it's a perfectly valid NLE at this point. Quite awesome actually.

I works great for tiny studios and prosumer setups. If you have network media storage and are pumping out episodic work.... it sucks rocks for lots of reasons.

I loved a lot of the new features of FCP X... but they eliminated core functionality for a studio situation.

Upon his return in middle of antennagate, Jobs let Papermaster go.

is not this the same company he worked for that made Deamweaver? If so This software was made the industry standard for web design - Adobe ditched there own web software GoLive for Deamweaver and never looked back. I think maybe a boost in pro apps is a good thing - maybe make better programs and under cute the blooted Adobe Software. I bet if Adobe dropped the price of there software by 75% there would be less software piracy as Photoshop is one of the most pirated software. Make prices so people can afford them. Dropping lightroom 4 in half was a good thing apple did the same with Apature 3 dropped the price from $400 to $80 only reason why i own it otherwise could not afford it atm.

I see a much larger, much more important issue here. Steve Jobs was Apple's "CTO" - he was the driver of much of the company's innovation and technological direction. Hiring of a CTO is a clear indication and admission by Tim Cook that he is more interested in managing Apple than leading it. Wasn't it Tim Cook who said that once you hire a "chief of innovation" then the company's days are numbered? So what did he do? He hired someone as a "CTO" who will basically be the driver of Apple's technologies and innovation moving forward.

Sure, no doubt you have it installed and can find it useful. But you have to side-load it from some file sharing site.

And while it's certainly nice that a security fix made it out from Adobe recently, Adobe has already committed to leaving that codebase to wither and die.

Sorry, my Nexus isn't touching that with a 10 foot pole.

I use the Adobe suite because it does things that I cannot find anywhere else, or are worse. This doen't mean I find them anywhere near to perfection. OK, I can tolerate an original, common user interface. But not Window elements transplanted into the Mac, like it happens with Acrobat X and some parts of Illustrator. This is not cross-platform, but traces of a badly-made porting with very little respect for customers not working on Windows.

There are still a lot of critical features missing in Final Cut Pro X that will keep us from returning to it any time soon. Which is unfortunate, as our studio was a FCP studio since 2.0

Yeah, they screwed up with FCP X. I think they will fix it. The question is how long it takes. I know you can't wait around when you've got a business to run. I think they're waiting on Logic 10 (X) to make sure they get it right. We shall see though. Are you still using legacy FCP or have you jumped ship entirely?

We waited around for over a year hoping they would fix the critical flaws in FCP X... they've added better features, but it still isn't up to par for a studio situation. We were the last studio in our market area to move off of FCP to another editing platform. We held out our hope for Apple to fix their app. Oh well... maybe they'll fix it in the future and we'll move back.
