That's not true. I had a custom rom (aokp 4.1.1) on my galaxy s2 and the OS and apps (stock and 3rdparty) were stable. More than 30 days uptime without problems till I restated because I made a system change that requires a reboot (dpi).
On my jailbroken iphone 5 the facebook app crashes quite often.. Frustrating. Also have a problem with Springboard consuming cpu at random times and I need to restart to "temp" fix the problem. I will start a separate topic about this.

Also I would like apps to open faster on iOS.. In general apps are opened slower on the iphone 5 in comparisson to galaxy s 2 .

That is really the only app that crashes for me on both IOS and JB.

I'm still happy with my iPhone 4. Only when iOS 7 won't run on it I will consider an upgrade to a new iPhone.

So I read several pages of this thread and figured I would drop my thoughts on the subject.

I was feeling this way a few months ago, I was so bored with iOS and while I liked the iPhone 5 hardware wise I was so so bored with iOS. So I ordered a Nexus 4 and was super excited about it. That lasted a few weeks and then I wanted something else so I decided I might as well try windows phone 8. I traded the nexus 4 for a lumia 920 and was so excited about it.

Ultimately while there are things about android and windows phone that I like, I just miss the iPhone. It is familiar and works well and has great hardware and I have decided that for at least the next several years I am just going to stick with Apple and enjoy myself.

ehh something must be wrong with your iphone 5, my iphone 5 beats my brother's note 2 in speed tests every single time, and Forbes made a report on which smartphone software crashed more and Jellybean had a higher crash %...just saying what Forbes reported

If you look at Mac OS X, there are not too many interface changes and I think it will be the case with iOS. More features would be nice but I'm happy with what I've got right now. It just works

I've just tested side by side and for example stock apps like Calendar, Photos, Messages, App Store loads slower in comparison with their counterparts from galaxy s2 (with aokp custom ROM). And I have 1215 messages is the s2 while on the iphone 5 I have below 50. Plus the Contacts app loads on par, but on Android it shows also the profile images (have a lot of em).

Not to mention 3rdy-party apps which are loading slower, such us Twitter, Translate, etc.
One app that loads faster than on Android is Facebook. But still loads slow and tend to crash quite often.

Regarding of Android crashes, in more than 2 years I can say it's quite stable in this aspect. I got very few system apps crashes and there are apps that are poorly written and crash from time to time (or even at startup due incompatibility).
Apple doesn't announce the user directly of the crash, it just close the app and silently write a log. Maybe most of the people doesn't "know" that this is a crash..
And in 3-4 month of using iphone 5 got a few times more crashes than using Android for more than 2 years (rooted, stock or custom roms). But I can't blame iOS since most of the crashes were due several cydia tweaks..

In other words you cannot blame Android due 3rdparty apps crashing because of being poorly written as I cannot blame iOS because buggy apps

Some points are funny and pure marketing . For example the section with retina display ). There are 1080p and 720p displays with better dpi.
And the section about a6 chip being not battery hungry.. Yeah right, tell that to 3d intensive games where the true power of the gpu is being put on work..


And to answer to the topic question
No, I won't leave iOS soon, just came into this from android. I like that the iphone 5 has better battery life (even with lower battery capacity) and I like that the whole UI is smooth in general. But I consider jailbreaking essential

The thing is though. Smartphones have been out quite some time now. In the earlier years they were new and progress was greater, now the progress is much less and its now mostly evolution rather that revolution.

This will continue until whatever it will be that will replace the smartphone.

I recently got a chance to play and setup a Samsung Galaxy S3 for my sister.

I was blown away by the screen!!. Yes I have also looked at the iPhone 5 and its definitely better than the 4S, but nowhere close to the S3.

I couldn't help wondering, what if the same screen was on my iMac!! What a machine that would be! Would be expensive for sure as the SG S3 used a AMOLED screen. But it can make something very boring like a Google homepage look all sharp and splashy!

I found the SG S3 to be a very good phone. Snappy and quick in spite of the android (hated it since I owned a old droid before)...

After completely setting up the phone with various services I found that Apple still has the best cloud sync experience. Google for all its glory doesn't offer a way to store the pics taken with the phone or your tablet to cloud unless you want to publish a low res version on Google +. I found a way to use DropBox to sync and upload the pictures alone.

Other than a messy setup of many software services, it was a great phone.

My iPhone 4S looks so antiquated(screen wise) compared to the SG S3. I wonder what's in store in the SG S4!

Apple's reluctance to use top of the line screens from Samsung is only making its devices look so low quality. (LG on my iMac and god knows what on my iPhone 4S and really bad ones on some MBA's and rMBP's)

If the iPhone 5S is an incremental update, I hate to say this, I might jump ship to a SG S4.

Update :
After playing with the SG S3 for a few days I realized it was too big to be a phone. The mobility/storage factor was a bummer due to its size. Came back to my iPhone 4S and marveled at how they got the dimensions right! So I am sticking with Apple !

I was with ios for so long and the ecosystem played a major part in me staying for a long as I did. I was doing everything apple. Notes, calender, mail. I'm using a note 2 now and I love it. The only thing that stressed me out was what I was going to do if I ever wanted to go back to Apple. By using cross comparable apps like evernote and google calender and pocket what's app etc.. I now have the freedom to switch between operating systems and phones of my choosing. The only thing I lost in the process were my paid ios apps. But at least when I go back, if I do, they'll be there.

Just upgraded from a 4 to a 5 and all I can say is that I'm impressed with the screen size it's processor quickness. iOS 7 will complement the wonderful hardware of the 5. I'm so glad I didn't pull the trigger on the Xperia or the Nokia 920.

Apple failed to impress me with the iPhone 4 and 4S, i left at the 3GS for android, i have now returned to the iPhone 5, which quite honestly STILL FAILS to impress, however, it fails to impress in a way that reassuringly functional.

My experience of android was of a buggy, micro-managent, old world PC ownership style device, i was constantly having to go in and shut down apps that would otherwise drain my battery in a couple of hours, restart the phone because it had lost the ability to connect to data because a service had failed and other such random annoyances, not to mention the crappy, malware ridden app store that is google play, 11 apps with the same name, but only one is the one you want, no problem, the other 10 will install the app you want, and add icons to online casinos, porn sites and text premium rate numbers for you...

The iPhone doesn't have to impress on a hardware level, i think ive gone past that shallow need for the best and newest tech every year, what i need is what apple provides in the app store, peace of mind that the apps i install have been vetted and wont dial china and charge me $$$$$ , wont infect my phone with a virus and won't run the battery flat unless i spend 10 minutes jumping through a load of menus to kill the app.

Sure id like apple to make the next phone a little thicker and double the battery life so i don't have to spend a load of money on a charging sleeve so i can last a full day out, but other than that, im sticking with the iPhone, Android phones may have the better tech, but they don't have the better OS or app environment by a long, long, long , looooooooooOOOOOOOONG way,

My ideal phone at the moment would be the Samsung Galaxy S4 with iOS running on it... sadly never going to happen. Everyone goes on about the iPhones Retina screen, well, it looks dull an color less next to the Samsung Galaxy S2, S3, Note 2 etc, the samsung screens are just so VIVID, pretty much the only thing i REALLY miss about android ownership.

Agreed. BlackBerry 10 is actually a very nice OS. I was pleasantly surprised when I used it. The app selection obviously isn't as good as Android and iOS but I am seriously considering getting one instead of a Galaxy to replace my ageing iPhone. If you want something different it's definitely the way to go, it's like they've done webOS as it should have been.
