This is the first I've heard of them shutting it off... I knew it had to happen sometime though. Though I'm fairly sure some guy will hack together a server that can handle online play. Maybe CTGP revolution will still work. That's always fun! :cool:

It's passing, yeah. If you want to play those series online you'll have to get the Wii U sequels instead. It's a little annoying to see Brawl go offline when the sequel isn't out till later this year.

In a way it feels liberating to know those systems won't be online again. There's a kind of peace, I think, knowing a game won't be updated. That all those races I won in Mario Kart DS will be burned into the cartridge for all time.

I have Mario Kart pre-ordered, which I haven't done for a game in probably 14 years. I'm really excited about it. I don't want a 3DS. So, I'll have to wait much longer to play it on the WiiU. I wish it was coming to the WiiU, first and the 3DS, later.

Same. I love the 3DS but I really think the best place for Smash Bros is on the biggest screen you can possibly find with as many friends as you can possibly get round.

Even though it stinks that Nintendo is shutting down Wii and DS online play, did any of you guys utilize it lately. I am just wondering. Myself, I haven't used any of those two systems online in years. I never played Mario Kart Wii online but I hope it was better than playing Mario Kart DS or 7 online.

I am a decent player, nothing crazy but the few times I was in first place I ALWAYS had the other player disconnect. I assume he closed his DS or pushed up on the wireless switch to disconnect. I assume and hope Wii U owners will just be up for having some fun.

When I am playing Gran Prix, if I lose a match I usually quit unless I want too practice the upcoming tracks more but that doesn't effect anyone. It's just me and the computer. But when I'm online I never quit. It's Mario Kart!! You could be in first place the whole match and get hit with a blue shell right near the finish line and place 4th, 5th, etc.

All bets are off in Mario Kart!! By the way I just opened up a Mario Kart 8 thread where we can all post our Nintendo Network IDs. I hope to see you post your Nintendo Network ID and to see you online starting May 30!
