Image / PDF Web Compression

I just used an App called: ImageOptim to compress my web-based images so that they load faster on my website. Out of all of my images collectively it saved 16mb's during it's compression. I have over 300+ pdf's on our site for our research and articles section. Does anyone know of a good program that performs a similar task while retaining quality and allowing the search to still be used? I was looking at: http://www.cvisiontech.com/products/....html?lang=eng but it doesn't seem to be what I'm after, maybe I'm wrong just seems sketchy.

At least, I believe it should not be in the "sketchy" category.
