Yanking headphones out
Can yanking the headphones out hurt the headphone jack? I was talking with my headphones in and my dog jumped down and yanked them out.

If I yank on your hair, does it hurt? Maybe a little. Life will go on.

Thank you for such wisdom. I just meant can it damage any contacts or anything. I mean I know it's essentially just removing the headphones really quickly. I just want to keep this phone nice for as long as I can.

Straight angle? No harm. Sharp angle? Could break your headphones and, given enough force, your headphone jack.

You should be fine. The headphone cables are more delicate than the jack.

I think you will be ok. I wouldn't make a habit of it though.

I'll worry more about your headphones than the headphone jack itself. Headphones tend to be more brittle, and the tip of the plug is often susceptible/prone to damage more than the other areas. Therefore, I'm often more careful with that area when pulling the headphones out.

If the headphone and jack are both still working, then it should be fine. I'd be careful not to let the dog yank 'em out again though.
