Hmm.. don't think it's going to be a big seller at that price.

Are there really that many people demanding a 128GB iPad?

I just noticed Apple now has the new 128GB iPads available for purchase.
http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_ipad

And the store didn't even go down this time. :D

Not sure but I definitely want a 128GB iPad. Though I'll wait for iPad 5. I wonder if the mini will get that capacity in next revision, or if the higher capacity will only be exclusive to the regular sized iPad? If so, I may have to jump back.

For that price I'd rather get a Macbook Air!!!

Although when put in perspective, an extra £80 to double the capacity ain't THAT bad, but still at that price you're pushing into macbook territory.

Same for me. Had th 128GB been available when I bought my iPad in April, I would not have hesitated in getting it. But I'm going to wait another generation or two before replacing the iPad 3.

It's certainly approaching similar price points, but the iPad is my main machine. I like the hi-res IPS display, back camera, and great battery life. I don't want to give those up and pay more. I do agree that $300 more for an extra 112GB will make many rethink their storage needs. But I don't even consider the 16 and 32 - so it's the $700 64GB vs. $800 128GB for me.

I think this will be big for business and professionals but not so much for the average consumer. The 64GB is more than enough for most people.

perhaps - but I would gladly find use for 128 as it would be big enough for my rather large music collection (I've been digital since the days of 32MB players!) and also I nowadays have more movie content.

I have the seagate goflex wireless drive and has been a useful addition to my 16gig iPad.

However I'm planing on buying a 5. Probably 32 or 64.

The price is crazy.
Apple should do what they have done before.

Keep the same price point for 3 tiers.
Get rid of the 16gig.

So, it would be: 32,64,128 instead of 16,32,64.

Simple!

Oh, but it really is just that simple.
Make the announcement and stop making the 16.
Viola!

Having 4 SKUs is ridiculous.

If there is a need for something that big, then there is probably less of a need for the 16.
Just keep 16 for the mini folks.
