A little tip -
A very common failure in early ADB keyboards with removable cables is cracked solder on the ADB socket connectors.
Try plugging the cable from the computer into the opposite side to test the keyboard. This is only a test, since you'll have nowhere to plug in the mouse.
Also, look directly into both ends of the cable to check foe bent or broken pins.
