[iPad Mini] Current Nexus 7 owner - Page 2

I think, i really do think that Nexus 7 is more suitable for watching movies becasue it screen ratio is perfect, no black gap. Maybe for browsing a little bit, because it has flash and less limited compare to ios.

But for games, books, apps, you will have to go with ipad as its arguably the best tablet out there still. I came from Ipod touch so i know how to work Ipad very easily. I doubt anyone would have a hard time even new user of ios.

Nexus 7 is a good device but maybe apple was right, ios ecosystem alone can make the price 329 for ipad mini and people still wait in line to buy them.

I have a 7, Mini and iPad 1. I've had an iPhone since the first generation and got the iPad when it first came out here. After a few years of iOS I wanted to try something new so got the 7 back in September.

The novelty of the 7 wore off after a month or so and a few things started to grate. Short battery life, Jelly Bean being less polished compared to iOS and the physical construction being a bit cheap feeling to name a few.

I got a Mini for Xmas and the whole experience is just so much smoother. The only thing is the screen isn't as sharp. But that's not much of a big deal for me.

While the 7 for the price is ok, I now recommend anyone who asks me to spend a bit extra if they can for a Mini. Don't get me wrong the 7 is still ok, it's just that for not much extra a Mini is so much better.

I'll probably still keep the 7 though, just because I'm a bit of a gadget freak and like to play on both.

Turning my Nexus 7 into a GPS device. I have been playing with the Nexus as much as possible and the dang Google Play store is starting to piss me off. Unlike the Apple store, you can't find a tablet version of anything easily. It is using the phone version which I guess aren't that bad but it sucks. I know some android phones out there have better or equal screen resolutions as the 7 but its a pain the ass to find them.

The screen is defiantly a bit a crisper but The apps alone are going to keep me on my mini. I think this is the biggest problem the android eco system has with their tablets. The 7 is small enough to be turned into a GPS device so that is what its new role will be. Oh, and I guess knowing how to use Android is also a plus. One day I am sure Android will finally get polished enough to be really usable.

I tried one out for a bit over the last few days. It really seems more like competition for the iPod touch instead of the iPad mini. Great price point though. And fits easy in jacket pocket or even in back jeans pocket if you don't sit down.

I enjoyed using my Nexus for the last month. I really liked having the latest Android software and I was pleasantly surprised with the screen quality. At the end of the day, though, it just felt like a big version of my phone (Razr owner). I didn't like the lack of tablet optimized apps and I think, for me, if I want a tablet, I want a full size one (10"). I want a big distinction between my tablet and my phone.

So I picked it up last night and overall I definitely like the size and weight... major points for those. What I was a little surprised to see though was how the webpage layout in portrait compared to my N7 was actually less. So many people on here said it would be better.

For example, I went to both Apple's site and nytimes.com and both actually showed more on Chrome with the N7. The text obviously was smaller due to being a smaller screen but the lettering was definitely sharper. Not to knock the Mini as I could read that one just fine as well. Macrumors' site was better on the Mini though - so it seems like it's not consistent one way or the other.

I love the App Store within iOS and that's the big big draw back for me. As it is right now, I'm 50/50 on which way to go. Gonna spend the weekend to fully decide but it's almost a split decision...

Don't forget that on the iPad, some of the papers are very well presented via the News Stand (albeit sometimes via a subscription that is not necessary if you go via a web browser). For news, I'd also recommend Google Currents on both devices.

My recommendation is to try mobile versions of websites whenever possible and in portrait mode.

Well I've talked myself into exchanging the Mini for a 4th Gen iPad. I've used a retina display long enough over the past few months with some friends to notice a difference. While I like the size and weight of the Mini, I really feel like stepping up to the current standard in the full size pad will be the best option.

Nexus 7, I still love you for what you offer but at this point, iPad will be the tablet of choice.

And for text use the 'reader' function in safari!

Yeah I should have just listened to your from the start, you knew what was up, lol. I am glad I took the time to do the comparison though, it's made me really see what I wanted in the end. And I think if I do this and an iPad Mini 2 with Retina comes out later, I won't regret it with having the current iPad. If I had this Mini and then that came out, I might be a tad resentful...

Today I went to Best Buy to check out the iPad Mini for the very first time and to make sure I could easily hold it with one hand. As soon as I picked it up, I instantly wanted one really bad. It was so light and comfortable to hold. I couldn't believe how much nicer it was than the Nexus 7 that I briefly owned. It just felt 'right'.

The text was more crisp and clearer than my iPad2. I realize this is because of the smaller screen. Playing with this device made me feel certain that NOT having a retina display was no longer an issue for me. They only had the 16 & 64gb wifi models left in stock. I wanted the 32gb wifi. So I decided to wait until they had what I wanted.

Different strokes for different folks.

I had gotten an iPad mini for myself and gave my son the iPad 3. After a week or so I kinda missed the retina, traded with my son and after a week of a iPad I got sick of how heavy is was and missed how light and thin the iPad mini is and how I like to grip it, it just felt right in my hands.(without a case on it) So I went back to the iPad mini and haven't looked back since. I've gotten use to using non-retina but I know when apple does come out with the retina mini I'll probably get it.

I would go for it. I have a 16GB Nexus 7, and while it is a nice tablet, the Mini is better for browsing the web and using apps.

I see you've picked up an iPad 4. Nice choice, I did the same.

I first bought a Mini and then switched it for the iPad 4.
