I just exported a hockey schedule in hopes of sharing it with the members of my team. However it seems to export the calender for all of the years i have done this dating back to 2009. Is there anyway to export only future events?

Export Only future iCal events

Not in iCal or Mac Calendar.
You can edit the ics export file but that's tricky to say the least.
BusyCal will do this. You can download it and use it for the free trial period.
Or, if it's not too many events, you could just copy them to a new calendar then export.
