New Wifi Printing Problems

I have an Airport Extreme (about five years old) connected to my printers. I have never had problems printing via the wifi. However for the last two months or so, more and more often when I print via wifi I get the message that the printer is not connected. However when I walk my Macbook Pro (or other Macs) into the room housing the Airport and printer, my laptop is able to find the printer and print. Other than this problem, my wifi works fine via the Airport Extreme. Is the problem the Airport Extreme or something else?
