A lot of these kids spend 20+ hours a weekend and untold hours during the week killing people in video games, watching them killed in tv shows, movies and all over the internet.
So guns don't kill people ... video games do?

Japanese media is still more violent, shouldn't there be this dramatic rise of Japanese teens killing everyone over there? They have way more murders per capita than the US thats for sure!

What about other countries in Euroland that get our games and movies. Where is your slim little articles citing a newspaper for those?

Wanna make some more claims and blame media for mind controlling people? Japan has a huge market for rape/sex simulators as well as pornography. How come rapists are not running amok over there?

I understand. I just wanted to prove to you that it's not "only in America" where kids and adults commit killings.

So what was the cause of all the violence before the advent of video games? I grew up watching the Three Stooges, but I never felt the urge got run a saw across someone's head. Or whack him with a large wooden mallet. Or poke him in the eyes. And so on.

People need to stop using video games and movies as a scapegoat. The problem is the culture in 'Murica. Violence is acceptable, were as nudity is offensive. Practically the opposite of every other civilized country in the world were nudity is okay, violence is a no-no. I blame the Injun murderin', land grabbin' Puritans of old.

So who's the backwards people here? Don't get my started on Metric vs Imperial.

That is true. I take it back, not only in America.

But mostly.

Holy crap. Just holy crap.

That is absolutely incredible in the worst way

My first instinct is to say that while of course

1: That kid should NOT have access to a weapon like that at that age

the more interesting topic is why

2: That kid was ACTUALLY planning to kill someone.

(2) I mean sure, kids have fantasy action adventure play at young ages. I probably had my fair share of playing pretend cop or villain shooting finger guns at the bad guys. Or worse I probably made violent gestures about people I 'hated' i.e. the strangle gesture, or the gun to own head gesture. But my mental state was no where even close to actually contemplating real murder in any tangible way.

(1) I was raised in a house with literally dozens of guns. We had an AR exclusively for shooting possums and the like in the back yard. However, I had NO ACCESS to ANY of the guns unsupervised until high school. I had intense training and experience with handling guns safely. *** However, even in high school, the only gun I had access to was my shotgun for shooting clays with my brothers. It wasn't until college that I actually knew where my parents kept the handgun.

So, my point being, I think this kids parents SUCK. They make responsible families like mine look bad. Also, this kid is NUTS. Likely representative of a deeply rooted personality disorder or other issues

***immediately turning on the safety immediately after firing a shotgun is muscle memory. I completely avoid pointing a gun (even unloaded) in the direction of a person by instinct (which is not as natural as it sounds. Most novice gun users accidentally swing a gun in someones direction by accident very often). I KNOW exactly how many rounds are in a gun, but always treat it as loaded, regardless. The odds of my having a gun related accident are too slim to reasonably consider
