Samsung SSD 256gb Price Fluctuations'??

Hi,

Not sure if anyone has noticed this or not, but I was planning on purchasing a Samsung 830 SDD-256gb from either NewEgg.com or Amazon.com. Well this morning Amazon had it for $219 and yesterday Newegg had it for $229. Now when I go in to place my order, Amazon now wants 229 + tax and their shipping charge if I want it here at a decent time and new egg skyrocketed to a whooping $359!!!

Has anyone else noticed this, or think the price may go down again? So strange.

Any other sites/stores anyone is aware of that I may be able to purchase this drive at a decent price?

The drive goes for sale often. It was as low as 190 just two-three days ago. The sales are often short-lived, but numerous.

Awesome! Thank you so much! I will wait a couple of days to see what happens.

Thanks again

Prices fluctuate, but $229 is close to the all time low for this product. See this link: http://camelcamelcamel.com/Samsung-8...uct/B005T3GPXY

Right now, they have a few available from a third party for $219 with Amazon Prime fulfillment.

Yeah, this is what I did. No tax + Prime shipping is great.

Sign up for newegg's daily specials and keep and peruse them when you first get up in the morning.

Also worth watching is www.slickdeals.net. It's a site where people post deals available. A deal pops up there every week or so on the 830 and similar SSDs, usually from newegg or Amazon or some other reputable vendor. I just got my 830 from www.buydig.com:

http://slickdeals.net/f/5028932-256G...able-189-99-FS

I got it for $189, but it appears to be $199 now, although you have to go all the way to checkout to see it. YMMV, but even if this doesn't work, like I said, someone will post some deal on the 830 almost weekly on slick deals.

Good luck! It's a great drive!

I also got mine on Friday through buydig.com for $189. I was pretty lucky, too, since only a few hours later, the price went up to $209. Can't wait for it to come.

Also, if you can wait, I would definitely wait to buy a new SSD. I had to get mine soon, but the 830 series are nearly a year old, so you can expect some kind of refresh within the coming months. Plextor has already released their new M5 SSDs which have smaller NAND technology and much faster speeds. Of course, at the moment they are pretty expensive, but you can expect them to get cheaper as the rest of the industry begins to follow.

Newegg.com just lowered the drive back down to $199, so I jumped on it!

Thank you for your reply, now here's hoping how dramatically it changes my 2011 MacBook Pro
