...from the tenfourfox development blog. Kaiser and Tobias (he is the fine man responsible for the exceptional Leopard Webkit) were able to build Firefox 19 for OS X PPC! There looked to be an insurmountable problem with gcc libraries, but they pulled it off, yet again.

Even if you don't use tenfourfox, even if you hate tenfourfox, you should say a silent thanks today to Kaiser and co. They are still, two years later, maintaining source parity with Firefox, at no financial gain to themselves. Once source parity is lost its feature parity next, then security parity, then a slow road to eventual platform oblivion.

Sure, there are beaucoup webkit browsers still, but their days may be numbered for PPC OS X as well. There is always PPC Linux, but, as he points out in his post, Gecko for PPC Linux may also not be long for this world, that all depends on the upstream developers for Debian and Gentoo and the like giving a crap about PPC. Stuff still has to build for PPC, and webkit just abandoned big endian support in the YARR interpreter. Seriously, how much longer do we have without the likes of Cameron and Tobias?

As PPC users, OS X or Linux, we are tier 3 as far as Webkit and Mozilla are concerned.

I'm using Firefox 19 right now. Aurora. Thanks to Tobias, one of Kaiser's team members.

Yes...

Tenfourfox 10 was the old ESR (extended stable release), it is no longer supported. 17 is the new ESR, but plugin support, even for things like quicktime is completely gone, so if that is important you.....19 is the latest in the unstable testing branch, but I don't believe has been released as an official beta yet, but I suspect will be soon.

Tobias is awesome, as is Aurorafox. Which is Leopard only of course. Cameron needs his Classic for Classilla and other projects, so keeps tenfourfox alive for Tiger and all G3's.
