Kingston Memory Stick problem on Imac

Hi.

Just got a new 32gb memory stick by Kingston - data traveler 101, purple edition.

I've been copying avi & mkv files over, which play perfectly well on my imac, but once I've copied them over, I get a message saying 'not a movie file' and they won't play, not even with vlc player. Also, there's a red light constantly on, and sometimes flashing on the new stick. The files seem to take less time to copy over than they do on my other sticks too.

Any ideas? Is it goosed?
