MacMini is currently king. In previows generations, the CPU/GPU performance of the iMacs were far superior, but with Ivy Bridge models, the MacMini is just as powerfull

In addition, you are limited to 1TB on the 22"iMac, while you can go to 2TB with the MacMini.

I went with a Mini because it was the least expensive way for me to get a Mac. I already had a great Dell flat panel display, and I like my Lenovo USB keyboard very much. I also already owned a decent-sized SSD, and RAM has gotten affordable. So for around $500 I've got a Mac system that would otherwise have cost 2-3 times as much.

The RAM upgrade couldn't have been easier. The SSD installation was a little trickier for my North American hands, but I managed.

As a bonus, the Mini takes up almost no room on my desk. It's an engineering marvel, IMO.
