So I got my free iPad Mini in the mail today. I like the size of it. I was planning on buying another tablet anyway because I also have a Motorola Xoom. But it goes well with my Galaxy Note 2.

The Xoom has aged pretty well for being an android tablet. Motorola and google have done a good job with pushing support for it. It's not the fastest kid on the block anymore but everyone I've seen with one seems to be enjoying it still.

Definitely personal preference. However, I'm not writing this post to say that.

First, I'd like to say, good luck out on deployments and I hope you follow up your service with a good career. Take advantage of the GI Bill and having education paid for.

Secondly, get the Mini.

The Mini has a MUCH better resale value and it's a much newer device. The iPad 2 is coming up to the 2 year age mark and the Mini is still the most recent generation of what it is. Exact same hardware, only maybe 1.8" smaller.
