Is Pages retina-friendly in Mountain Lion?
Hi there,
Has anyone out there who has access to Mountain Lion (developer's preview, etc.) tried out Pages on the Retina MBP? Wondering if M-Lion solves the problem (i.e., blanks every second page), or whether it makes no difference -- in which case, we're stuck waiting for new version of iWorks... Thanks! |

May not be a major release. Could be a minor one just for retina/icloud.

Hey if it looks crisp, I'll be happy with any update. I wish MS would do the same!

I can't even get pages or keynote to even function in 'high res' mode. Text boxes a missing and haggard, block of text are missing. Really not what I have come to expect from Apple for the last 10 years, since my iBook G3 running at 700Mhz with a 40Gb hard drive and pop out combo drive.

That's probably why they didn't enable that by default.

Forget a Retina update for MS Office, the 2013 version isn't even coming to Mac.

An iWork release alongside Mountain Lion definitely makes a lot of sense. An update is long overdue.
Retina support and iCloud integration are sorely needed. |

In the mean time you can use Google Docs which DOES support retina. I recommend ditching everything for Google Docs anyway. Sometimes you just have to move on to newer and better technology and services.

If you go to Pages in Finder and do Get Info on it then there is a checkbox for "Open in Low Resolution", which is checked by default. If you uncheck it and relaunch then Pages opens in retina mode.
It looks great and works as long as you only type one page. When you go to a second page it stops working and everything is blank. I guess the low resolution box is checked by default to avoid this bug. Still, if you do this you can see what Pages will look like once it is made retina compatible. |
