It's called trademark logo dear. You know that cutesy little android, yeah, that's trademarked, so is the word "Droid". Usually when logos are made of more than one piece, they'll trademark each part separately as well as the whole.

But, I know that's not why you posted this. I could tell by the link to The Register.
