Messages on Mac sporadically deletes messages

I was wondering if anyone else has this problem, or even has a fix.

I have my iMessages account set up on my mac, it has a phone number and an email address tied to to it. It seems to be fine syncing all my conversations most of the time with my iPhone and iPad.

However, randomly at some points, and I have even seen it happen straight into front of me, it will just delete the last 4 hours of conversation with a person.

Any help would be much appreciated

EDIT: The messages that have been deleted from my mac remain on both the iPad and iPhone
