Cannot send mail with postfix
I'm trying to send through the Mac terminal:
date | mail -s testing email@example.com
In mail.log I get the following error:
"Jul 19 10:19:17 oris-imac.home postfix/error: 165009630728: to=<firstname.lastname@example.org>, relay=none, delay=31, delays=0.61/31/0/0, dsn=4.4.3, status=deferred (delivery temporarily suspended: Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=smtp.gmail.com type=MX: Host not found, try again)
Jul 19 10:19:46 oris-imac.home postfix/master: master exit time has arrived"
I looked for a solution online but couldn't find any one that was useful for me, but I guess it's a DNS issue.
Anyone know what can I do to solve this?

Where did you look? What have you tried? Looks like a DNS problem but could be anything.

While I'm testing the points you brought up (Thanks!), I'll add that I changed system preferences -> network -> advanced -> DNS to google's public DNS server and it now works.
Anything I need to do to make it work without it?
