My 2012 ATV is seeing the recent update and downloading it, but the installation process falls over - happened half a dozen times now.

Should I be bothered ? is there a fix?

Unplug power for about 5 min, restart it & try again. Also some discussions on Apple forums that updates not working well over Ethernet but are successful via Wifi.

Tried it - didn't work

Thanks anyway.

It downloads the update, goes to "step 1 of 2' gets almost to the end of the indicator bar, then seems to hang and gives the ' not successful ' error message

Update - does

The support pages now suggest disconnecting and updating over WiFi, which worked first time

All done - thank you

Ive gotta say...this is friggin amazing. A Wifi connection preferred over hard wired ethernet??

But, I also must add....it does work. I had two ATV3's that would not update until I went wifi. Go figure!!
