Must've been really bored or really hated his time at the NTSB

While the intern probably deserved to lose his job for confirming the false information as being accurate, it is important to note that all the poor schmuck did was say yes, that is accurate. In the midst of a very busy day at the NTSB, a newstation calling to confirm information might not have been given the attention it deserved. In addition, does anyone know how they phrased their request for confirmation?

The person who called the station and gave them the false names is out there somewhere... laughing, anonymous and legendary.

We're talking about a single person with a (powerful) laser pointer.

A 'laser pointer' would not be bright enough at that distance to cause optic issues...

There was a report a few years ago of someone using a very powerful laser from a parking garage near LAX. It does happen...
