Android has 70% market share... but a lot of that is made up of crappy $100 phones in lesser-developed countries. You can't even access the Google Play store in China!

Developers go where the money is... and that's still iOS despite their lower market share.

Uh.no it is not. Ferrari cars are made for the wealthy. Apple phones are affordable to working middle class. An iphone is affordable. The price isn't an excuse for ios losing market share. Nice try though.

Bad comparison , cars and phones don't work, your average iPhone goes between 400-800 dollars, almost anyone can afford that, a Ferrari goes for between 180,000-450,000. Most people could never afford one.

Android and samsung is innovating at full speed and killing apple in those commercials. The only big thing came out of the iphone was a slighter bigger screen last year, their other big feature the map was a disaster and had a negative impact.

Just look at those commercials, when iphone first came it was a showstopper, now the best they can do is touting a "do not disturb" button and how the caller can hear your voice...during a phone call.

It's laughable.

Meanwhile samsung is killing it with their commercials touting nfs transfers, stylus doing all sorts of cool stuff, etc...

Apple stopped innovating on their iphone, or rather tried and failed. That's fact.

Many people including myself like iphone because it's simple and works out of box, but that will only carry you so far until a tipping point is reached where the features and innovations on the competitor is just too much to resist.

Its a huge difference, a iPhone requires a data plan basically wherever you buy it unless you buy the phone full price, which is expensive. The cheaper Android phones are dirt cheap and dont require expensive plans

One of the reasons why developers still prefer iOS is the fact that 70% of all iOS devices ever sold is now on iOS 6, the latest software, that makes developers jobs so much easier and they can now reach out to even more people

Apple must doing better where it isn't supported by carriers. Unlocked, off-contract phones is the #1 choice outside US.

Also, exclusivity agreements are not a good approach anymore. iPhone is a good product, but we have good if not better alternatives, so I won't enter in a contract just because a carrier has exclusivity on selling it.

In Brazil, for example, a SIII costs around USD 900,00. A Galaxy Note II costs around USD 1000,00. An iPhone 5 costs around USD 1200,00 and it's sold only by carriers.

I have said this before. 2013 is a crucial year for Apple and iPhone.

If we don't see a bigger iPhone this year, don't be surprise to read some reports saying something like 80%/15% marketshare for Samsung and Apple respectively.

My thoughts exactly, the old Steve Jobs train of thought will no longer work, if they do not start having multiple phones, and really bring some innovative ideas out soon, they will continue to slide. Do not get me wrong I am an Apple supporter, love their Macs etc, but my IP5 is pretty boring and to be honest 4.0 just will not cut it for viewing web pages etc, I think they need to come out with like 2-3 different phones so they can compete. Samsung is moving because they have two flagship products, the SIII and Note II, and both different however give people something new and fresh.

I hope Apple can do something spectacular this year with iOS, but I am not hoping for much out of the 5S bc it will not be that big of a product since it will just be improvements to the 5

I may leave the iPhone if they do not and go to Samsung and get the Note II, I love this phone and have one in my house, it is a fantastic device, granted a little big but none the less a great phone.
