It's currently on beta 4. Seems to fix the battery issues people have been talking about. We should see it relatively soon. :)

Sign, no sign of any significant feature even after 4 betas. Really awesome, Apple.

It's a point release. It's not intended to introduce any major features, it's intended to stabilize what has already shipped in 6.0

I beg to differ because that wasn't the trend in the past. iPhone OS 1.1, 2.1, 3.1, iOS 4.1 and 5.1 all introduced features, not only bug fixes. I'm not demanding for any major features too. Look at 4.1 and 5.1 for example, Game center, Airplay, Fast camera slider from the lock screen, camera face-detection are all substantial features that were introduced. I haven't seen anytime close to these even after 4 betas of 6.1.

I think x.x.1 are software updates that were "intended to stabilize what has already shipped in 6.0" btw. Just my 2 cents.

Actually there is a major major expensive (corporate) issue with iPhone 5 and ios 6.x from day one. It was not until 6.1 beta 4 that this issue was first addressed. The issue is the failure of push email in corporate exchange environments. So that is a major update that many folks are looking forward to with 6.1.

I would qualify that as more of a bug fix, not a new feature.

That's a bug fix, not a new feature. Because it should've work in the first place in 6.0, but it didn't, so it has to be fixed now. New features are those that are currently not available on 6.0.1, but new in 6.1, which is nothing.

I am hoping a redesigned Music app (at least looking more like the Remote app) appears in 6.1 GM. Here's hoping!

Meanwhile google continues to make noticeable progress in their point release. At this rate, apple will fall fast.

Stop defending apple. They ********* up the whole iOS 6 release and you know it.

Didn't they in 6.1 introduce a new music player for the lock screen? I kinda find that a "new" feature if anything

It's not new because the lock screen controls were already there prior to 6.1. They merely changed the lock of it. Sort of like "renovation" to me, not a new feature.

Wishful thinking. They just redesigned the music app in 6.0, they won't change it again in 6.1.

I think they will change it to match the Remote app. Look how well it performs! Either way, they should add play next to the app at some stage, lets see when 6.1 is released dear...

Well it should be released in January. I was at the genius bar talking to a genius about 6.1 beta and he said " ya 6.1 will be released in january" then, realizing that he let something slip, he quickly changed the subject from that to helping me with my iPhone...

I am sure the genius doesn't know when either. He probably got his info from blogs or MacRumors. Pretty sure they don't have any inside information.

If a genius says it, it must be true!! They know everything about what Apple HQ are up to!

.... I think.. I live in Denmark, so I've never met a genius at an Apple Store.

Definitely fixes battery and mostly due to radio software changes ...

Oh yeah, now that "genius" said it - it must truly be so. As everyone knows, Apple retail employees have first-hand insider knowledge of Apple product plans.

Retail store employees do not have any inside information on release schedules or unreleased products.
