Emptying Trashcan
I am at a loss. I was cleaning up my hard drive and throwing away documents and other things I no longer need. I had a duplicate of a document and move it to the trash can. When I click empty trash can, everything else disappears but this one document. I get an error message saying the action can not be completed cause the document is in use. It is a MS Word document and I made sure to completely close out of Word. I can not figure out how to delete this document. help! lol

Tried logging off and logging back in again and then emptying the Trash?
Tried restarting and then emptying the Trash? You can't empty the Trash or move a file to the Trash and Solving Trash Problems

this happened to me once and it happened to be because Safari was still trying to download the document... so if its a document you tried downloading from Safari, try to clear out your download list
